Ebbitts Pass south of Minden, NV. A narrow winding road
and high mountain elevations make this a spectacular scene! |

This is a picture of the desert east of Fallon, NV. |

This was taken from the top of Virginia Peak, located just
south of Pyramid Lake. I don't remember which direction I was facing
when I took it. |
 |
(12/2004)There were several days of morning fog in the
valley and, since I was headed up to the top of Peavine, I was hoping to
get a picture of the particularly heavy fog that blanketed the valley.
However, I wasn't able to make it to the top until early afternoon after
the majority of the fog had burnt off. |

This picture and the next two are of our worst snowstorm
in over 90 years. Some places in the lower elevations had up to seven
feet of the white stuff! To put it in perspective, we usually get only
six or eight inches of snow, which melts off by the following day. Our
total snowfall ended up being about five feet and, as you can see, the
dogs loved it. They thoughtfully kept the snow in the back yard packed
down. |
 |
This is a picture of our vehicles. The snowstorm started
New Year's eve, December 31, 2004, and finally stopped January 8th. |
 |
Although the snow stopped, we had another three weeks or
so of freezing fog which was more miserable than the snow. It made
driving hazardous with the black ice and low visibility. It wasn't until
the middle of February before the snow finally melted from our yard.
This picture shows the frozen fog (called Pogonip) on some bushes. |
