IRLP Information:
IRLP (Internet Radio Linking Project)
was started by Dave Cameron, VE7LTD of Vancouver BC back in 1998, and has been
growing by leaps and bounds ever since. The system is secure against hackers by
using PGP encryption to authenticate nodes with each other when connecting. These
keys are only created by the IRLP installer and uploaded to the master IRLP
server. This also enforces the philosophy of IRLP that all audio originates from
a radio and not from a computer.
EchoLink Information:
Echolink, as many of you may know, allows
you to use your Windows computer to communicate with fellow amateurs all
over the world. All that is required is to install the Echolink client
and apply for call sign validation from the system.
EchoIRLP, however, is custom software written to allow
an IRLP node to also operate on the Echolink system. It does not allow simultaneous connections to IRLP and
Echolink.
Echolink Node 7926/IRLP Node 5560
Repeater details:
The repeater is owned by Monty Turner N7PLQ, who has
graciously allowed me to link to it. Located atop Red Peak,
it overlooks the Reno/Sparks, NV
area. It can be accessed at 440.025+, PL 123.0.
Node technical details:
The IRLP/Echolink node is owned by myself, Richard
Nehrbass N7TGB, and
is located in Sun Valley, north of Reno. It is linked to the repeater
site via a GE MVP radio.
It is running on a 700 Mhz PII with 128mb of RAM and a 3gb Hard Drive.
The operating system is
Red Hat Linux 9.0. The computer is connected to the internet via a LAN.
This node has software for both IRLP and Echolink, so
either one may be accessed by the user.

nodes
